The starting point for most utilities is using commercial LTE. What has been missing until now is a single, cost-effective, secure SIM that can seamlessly switch between multiple carriers. This flexibility ensures coverage in areas where one carrier may be available while others are not, providing failover capabilities for enhanced resiliency. If you prefer to use your own carrier contracts, we can load those profiles as well but still give you the security and flexibility to change to another carrier in the future without truck rolls.

Security From Powerup
UtiliSIM literally starts with security. Earlier SIM standards transmit identifying information unencrypted leaving devices open to spoofing. UtiliSIM is built on SGP.32, the GSMA standard designed for secure eSIM provisioning for Internet of Things (IoT) devices. When devices using earlier provisioning standards are powered on for the first time, they transmit device identifiers and network parameters unencrypted over the air.
UtiliSIM is also designed to work with our SIM security platform partner, OneLayer. By combining UtiliSIM, OneLayer, and Heddian’s home routing solutions, utilities of all sizes can now have end-to-end security from the end device like Intelligent Electronic Device (IED) controls to SCADA platforms. This enables utilities to have multiple APNs across carriers or private networks and simplifies SIM / device provisioning and management.
No new truck rolls
In the past, changing from one carrier to another or migrating to private LTE required expensive truck rolls to devices to swap SIM cards. Read our lips – we don’t want you to have to do that. We created UtiliSIM so you don’t have to - new profiles can be downloaded OTA to update or change communications options.
Failover When Things Go Bump In The Night
Rule of the Lineman – things go wrong, so prepare for it. Heddian can bundle carrier connectivity with leading commercial operators so that if one network has an outage, you can automatically failover to a secondary carrier. This roaming relationship means you do not need to have separate accounts or pay a monthly recurring charge to a second carrier.
