UtiliSIM™ is a secure eSIM solution for utilities, enabling commercial and private LTE / 5G connectivity that adapts and grows as communication’s needs change. It leverages Heddian’s carrier relationships to combine mulitiple commercial networks into a single eSIM profile for resilient communication. Utilities can also bring their own connectivity and still gain access to Heddian’s multi-carrier eSIM for additional failover resiliency
How UtiliSIM Works
UtiliSIM combines eSIM profile management, remote provisioning, and multi-carrier failover into a single platform built on the SGP.32 standard. Five capabilities work together so utilities can deploy once and adapt as their network strategy evolves
eSIM Profile Management: UtiliSIM puts eSIM profiles onto a physical SIM card providing flexibility for devices that only have physical SIM slots.
Over-the-Air (OTA) Updates: Push new profiles and updates or change SIM configuration parameters to devices in the field throughout their lifecycle, eliminating truck rolls for connectivity changes.
Multi-Carrier Failover: Automatic roaming across Heddian’s carrier relationships means a single SIM can fail over to multiple commercial networks during an outage, without expensive accounts for backup coverage. This also means that you now have one SIM throughout your territory for simplified field crew device management.
Home Routing for Secure, Utility-Controlled Connectivity: UtiliSIM brings commercial carrier traffic to a utility owned core network ensuring end-to-end visibility and control. You define and change your own APNs and traffic routing.
Bring-Your-Own-Carrier: Already have carrier contracts in place? UtiliSIM can load existing profiles and provide additional flexibility to change carriers later without swapping SIMs

Security From Powerup
UtiliSIM is built on SGP.32, the GSMA standard for secure eSIM provisioning on Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Ealier provisioning standards transmit device identifiers and network parameters unencrypted the first time a device power on, leaving it exposed to spoofing. SGP.32 closes that gap from the moment a device comes online.
UtiliSIM also integrates with Heddian’s security platform partner, OneLayer. Combined with Heddian’s home routing solutions, this gives utilities of any size end-to-end security from the edge, including Intelligent Electronic Device (IED) controls, all the way to SCADA platforms. It also supports multiple APNs across carriers or private networks, simplifying SIM and device provisioning and management.

No New Truck Rolls: Changing carriers or migrating to private LTE has traditionally required costly truck rolls to physically swap SIM cards in the field. UtiliSIM eliminates that step: new profiles are downloaded over the air, so connectivity can be updated or changed remotely
Built for Failover: Grid communications cannot tolerate a single point of failure. Heddian bundles carrier connectivity with leading commercial operators, so if one network experiences an outage, devices automatically failover to a secondary carrier on the same eSIM. This failover capability means utilities do not need expensive second accounts for backup coverage.
